What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

Vidiot,
A lot of anecdotal evidence suggests that they don't even really want intelligent minds.
During my Judicial Committee appeal I had one elder tell the others that I was intelligent. One said "Good, we need more intelligent people in the organization." I wonder why.

Maybe she's Caleb's and Sophia's grandmother.

I remember that analogy was used to explain why the Witnesses couldn't correct the organization. (Ark = The Organization). It was right up there with "running ahead of Jehovah's chariot". (Chariot = The Organization).

Am I right in thinking that the most zealous JW make the most zealous apostates.
by Chook injust a thought.

Yes, I agree that the most zealous Witness makes for the most zealous apostate. That’s because their character is that of a zealous person no matter what he believes. I’m one of them though it’s been a while since I’ve zealously opposed them.

Chook,
...an 18 year old criminal verses grandma with a 44 magnum ,it's an equalizer.
As a small-handed light-weight person I can tell you that 'grandma' won't want to shoot a .44 magnum. Except out of a semi-auto rifle perhaps.

Awake! Magazine April 22 1970
by pale.emperor inwas doing some research this evening and i think ive found possibly the most damaging awake magazine issue the jw's could have printed.
april 22nd 1970. you can download the entire 1970 volume here: http://da-ip.getmyip.com:8080/pdf/old%20publications/?sort=d.
in this issue, the watchtower calls other religions on their hypocrisy for changing doctrine, upbeat music in their services, the clergy meddling in worldly affairs (un anyone?

Evangelical religions are increasing in membership in Spanish speaking countries. Some growth here in the US. Religion loves misery. And needless to say, the UN doesn't give a damn.

11:20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.” Matthew 11:20-24 New International Version
